On May 12, 2025, the tariffs on energy storage products between China and the United States were significantly reduced to below 5%. With its cost advantage and safety (the risk of thermal runaway is reduced by 80%), China's lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage system is accelerating its capture of the US and global markets. With its lithium iron phosphate technology, companies such as CATL and BYD have seen a 30% surge in the number of bids for solar energy storage projects in California and Texas, USA, forcing manufacturers such as Tesla and Panasonic to accelerate the layout of lithium iron phosphate production lines. Industry analysts said that China dominates 70% of the global supply of lithium iron phosphate cathode materials, and coupled with tariff dividends, it will be difficult for the European and American markets to replicate similar competitiveness in the short term.
