There are three main differences between lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batterie:

First, lithium iron phosphate life is longer.

Now the main body of lithium battery manufacturers of lithium iron cycle times up to 3500 times or more, and some claim to be able to reach 5000-6000 times, while the ternary lithium is more than 2000 times, some can reach more than 4000 times. Therefore, the number of cycles can be higher than 1000-1500 times, lithium iron phosphate battery cell than lithium ternary life is about 30% higher.

Second, lithium iron phosphate is safer.

Lithium iron core internal limit decomposition temperature is 700-800 degrees, even if the intense reaction, the performance is at least smoke, the core itself will not start a fire, will not explode. The internal limit of lithium ternary decomposition temperature is 200 degrees, the intense reaction of the core will explode, accompanied by open flames.

Thirdly, lithium ternary batteries have better resistance to low temperature, and lithium iron phosphate is more resistant to high temperature.

The general lithium ternary battery cell can still discharge 60-70% of the power at zero degree, while the general lithium iron can only discharge 30-40% in many cases, and some of them can't discharge the power. However, the battery pack on the electric car has a temperature control system inside the battery pack to the electric cell heating or cooling, so whether lithium iron or ternary car, have a better temperature adaptability. Still, the north of the China new energy vehicles or ternary lithium batteries are mostly used.
